Photos of the NDIC Main Comm taken at Carousel yesterday!
From L to R (top row): Jessica, Regine, Jolene, Leonard, Darius and Joey
From L to R (bottom row): Kharina, Poh Nai, Raine, Yen Peng, Me, Irene and Joanne
This was supposed to be the wacky shot, but you could tell only the back row got the cue. Haha
I think I will miss this bunch of folks. We hail from all the various agencies to organize one event and during the many many weeks, we actually bonded really strongly.
It's kinda sad to think I'm not gonna see them as much anymore, but I'm sure since we're all from the same Ministry family, everyone's just an email away.
The latest news came in.
The Singaporean who was held hostage in Mumbai has died. I think this is a very tragic ending.
She is so young, only 28 years old and is married. A whole life awaits in front of her, only to have it all robbed by these selfish, disgusting, cruel people who people call terrorists.
It just got gloomier.
My thoughts go out to the victim's family.

Okay, next update.
Met Diana yesterday for dinner at Seoul Garden. I can't recall the last time I went there, but definitely very long ago. I vaguely recall it was Ally's birthday perhaps 2 or 3 years back.
Jean and I were celebrating for her. Heehee, that's how long ago it was. I still have the photos though! =)
Anyway, I thought the standard of the food dropped. At least the variety. We didn't even stay for dessert. Our original plan was Kuishin Bo which didn't quite work out cos it was full for the day when we called the day before to make reservations.
It is always packed on Ladies' Night. Maybe next time.
And so we caught up with so many things, yakked and even shopped a little! =) Before we know, we were already stuffed and tired. Robin was such a darling, he came after his own dinner to pick me up and offered to send Diana back. =) Thanks dear!
Today was pig-out again.
Went for ExCEL convention at Suntec for the first half of the day. Very interesting seminar especially the one on STBs's journey to Singapore's inaugural F1 night race. Headed back to office around noon and spent the next 3 hours rushing out a submission!
3pm soon came and we took a cab down to Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts! It was the NDIC de-brief cum Thank You High Tea. :D We had tonnes of fun chatting and eating. Food wasn't too bad, but I think I was full from lunch that Doris bought me.
Nonetheless, good to cut down a little, I'm so fat these days. Went shopping a little after it ended. Wasn't easy cos I had laptop in tow, but still, managed to get myself some nice lingerie. =)
Didn't really shop much. Headed back to Lavender to pick up the car and my boyfriend for dinner at Old Airport Road. Reached home around 8.30pm and have been working on my laptop! But I don't mind cos weekend's gonna be here soon and I'd rather work now than during the weekend! Hehe
Anyway, if you guys have been following the news, you would have heard of Thailand's recent predicament.
I don't mean to be mean but ARE THEY STUPID OR WHAT???
What rocket science theory made them think by demonstrating at the airports (PLURAL!) will make the government cave in to their demands? And I'm not just saying this because I'm due to go there next month.
Dear and I are changing holiday plans to somewhere else! Will let you know soon. And in comparison, our problem is minutely tiny.
Back to topic.
What I pity are the poor tourists who are currently stuck in the Suvarnabhumi airport. They are unable to get on the last flight back and are practically holing up inside with not much food and definitely loads of chaos. They sleep on conveyer belts which are not in use, they lie there in shirts and pants which they intended to arrive back home in.
I read an article on today's TNP. Kids are sick and parents are getting frustrated because nothing can be done. They don't even know when they can return home. This is supposed to be the school holidays, the festive season. Such things shouldn't be happening.
These protesting and in my opinion, selfish people are totally clueless on the impact of this seemingly harmless demonstration on their economy in the midst of such shitty times. Seriously, would someone give them a crash course please?
As if storming Suvarnabhumi wasn't enough, they had to do the same to Don Muang. Great. Now, both airports leading to the country are not operational.
The more I read the daily papers, the angrier I get. This is SO stupid. You are doing this at the expense of other tourists and your own countryfolks, which is damn unfair. Normal folks can't go on their daily business with this protest and shootings going on. Just how long is this gonna last? Nobody knows and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is asking.
Just as we crack our heads on the stupidity of this issue, Mumbai is hit with terror attacks and one Singaporean is being held hostage.
What in the world is happening today? How come the world doesn't seem as safe as it used to be.
Before we tackle things like global warming, maybe there should first be some form of INTERVENTION for such issues and I think it better be soon!
See, now I'm too pissed to sleep but I got an early meeting tomorrow.
Go think about it, I'm sure your blood will boil too.
Back to the film, somehow it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I prolly just give it 2 popcorns for the dogs. The coming week would be good though, we have Wild Child and 4 Christmases! We held a farewell dinner for Kharina during lunch today.. She is leaving us for her secondment soon. Oh wells, I'm sure we get to bump into her when we go for training at CSC. =)
Entire CD Directorate (spot me in the crowd!)
HR people, well only like 3. The rest are missing from the photo, I don't know why! haha
Yuh Tze, Anne, Bernadette, Masrifah, Joanne Ho somehow did not make it into this shot.
(Me, Doris, Analyn, Kharina, Satindar and Petrina)
All of CD again
(Eeep! I almost chao-keng here..)
Kharina and Doris - Just like old friends

Random shot when Kharina was making her speech

And over at this end too. Analyn looked like she was crying but she isn't. Hehe. She clarified that she was having flu!

Kharina and her gifts

For dinner, dear and I went IKEA. He had this craving for their meatballs since morning so the least I could do was to help him make it a reality. Hahah, I love their meatballs too, so IKEA's anytime for me.
Ordered meatballs and the X'mas hot plate. The hot plate is turkey, by the way. Niceeee.. And of course, we also ordered our usual Daim cake. We wouldn't miss it for anything. Such glutton huh, us?
Oh yes. My folks are going Cape Town, South Africa next month. Without me. Boo Hoo. I've been missing out on quite a lot of family trips recently. Sigh.
They were orginally slated for States. They have been wanting to go back again after our first trip years ago, but Jacq really wanted to visit Cape Town too, so oh well. Something new for them, please bring back lots of photos!
For myself, on the other hand. All is not lost. My holiday will coincide with theirs too, so in a way, I won't be left alone in Singapore, except I'll be staying in Asia. Hahah. Will be heading to Bangkok with Dear next month too. Yippee.
The big day is coming next Tuesday. As the day draws nearer, we get nervous and slightly scared. Let's just hope it all turns out well, so I can get better nights of sleep after that. =)
Okay, enough updates for a Tuesday. Feeling really sleepy now, but have tonnes of work to do.
Nights all (but not for me, at least for the next 2 hours)!
p/s The economy is still shitters.
p/p/s Citigroup is slashing SO MANY jobs, it's scary.
p/p/p/s I think now is the perfect time to go back to school while I ride the storm. Great.
p/p/p/p/s Instead of a Filofax, I can only settle for a Keny now.
Blah, BYE!

Haha, and because we spent 200++, we even got a Ralph Lauren Duffle Bag and a Polo Bear plush. The bag is useful for the upcoming holidays though, and that it's very roomy...
Also managed to get him his belated birthday present @ Espirit as well as something for his sis' birthday which is round the corner.
It was quite a fruitful day yesterday if not for..........
This stupid movie called " Tokyo!"
Since we caught Madagascar and Quantum of Solace last week, there was nothing left to watch for this week. We were thinking of doing without a movie this weekend, but at the last minute he said he wanted to catch 'Tokyo!', a Picturehouse film.
We have never been disappointed by Picturehouse films except the one on eating habits which I enjoyed, but not him. Haha =)
So, this film is about 3 short stories that happened in Toyko. The next few sentences are gonna make you re-read my sentence, but don't worry, I don't think you are reading wrongly. Haha
First story depicts this young couple relocating to Toyko. They bunked in with a friend at her incredibly small apartment and caused some unhappiness cos 1) they took too long to find a place of their own to move out; and 2) The friend's boyfriend was unhappy and felt that they were taking advantage of her.
Then they realised they do not have enough money to sustain a proper living in Tokyo so guy took up part time job as a gift-wrapper because the girl could not wrap to save her life.Hence, while the guy worked, the girl continued on her quest for the perfect apartment at the cheapest rate.
One day, the guy commented in jest that she has no ambition. THAT DID IT.
She got angry..... and turned into a chair! WTF?
Yup, she morph into a chair slowly.. from her body to her legs and finally a full-blown wooden chair sitting by the side of the road. She was then 'adopted' by some passer-by who needed a chair at home and while he was not home, she started writing to her boyfriend.
Yes, apparently, she can morph out of her chair-state and become human, but her owner always sees her as a chair.
So I was saying, she would write to her boyfriend and it went like that: " .. Hope you're doing well, cos I am too... I finally found something I always wanted to do. I have ambition. I am now a chair."
It basically ended like that.
WTF (again)? I leave you guys to figure that out. If it's something abstract, please enlighten me. Haha
And to top it off, this is ONLY the first short film.
The second film was about this mad man living in the sewers of Toyko. He would emerge in the day and terrorize people. He looked creepy la. Long red beard, bad eye, walks funnily. Oh wait, just let me google a picture of him.
He speaks a funny language and according to the movie, there are only three people in this world who can understand him.
Anyway, lots of dings and dongs during the trial.. In any case, he was sentenced to death by hanging. I went for a haircut @ Kimage today.
My stylist nearly persuaded me to chop it off to a short do. Was so tempted but managed to hold back. Heehee.
Maybe next time. =)
Gosh, it's already Friday tomorrow....

His crocs and my maryjanes

He may be all smiley here, but after we got into the car, he realised he lost his rosary! =(
Somewhere but we don't know where. And because the skies were already dark, it was impossible to look for it anywhere. Too bad for him, so careless.
After he got over his 'loss', we headed to Tampines Mall to collect our tickets for Madagascar 2. I totally cannot recall watching Madasgascar 1 but everyone told me I did cos I blogged about it. Really?
Also bought myself a new flamingos pouch from Fie Japan. Their bags, pouches and brollies are sooo pretty! Also gorgeous are the very intricate accessories!
From Tampines Mall, we walked (a lot of walking yesterday, haha) to near my old place at Tampines Avenue 5 for fish steamboat. It was a good dinner, also helped that the weather was good. =)

We like to.. MOVE IT!
Back to the movie, it was funny on the overall cos they had really corny taglines (something you can expect from Ben Stiller and David Schwimmer) but perhaps it's the fact that we caught the 11.05pm slot that made me sleepy after the first half.
Dear enjoyed it, and he's not even an animation fan. So I guess if you liked M-1, you should catch the second installation (likely to be the last too).
Okay, I'm kinda dreading the fact that it's Sunday cos it's Monday tomorrow and work is crazy these days.
Am gonna catch the latest 007 film, Quantum of Solace on Tuesday with all of dear's colleagues at work cos it's their corporate movie night.
Till then, Ta! =)
The week's been eventful though. US gets a new president-elect. I was hoping for Obama to win too. Glad he did. It was also dear's birthday was last Tuesday.
Threw him a mini surprise the eve but I shan't bore you all with the details. On the actual day, we headed for dinner at Marina Mandarin's Aquamarine. Food's great.
I'm hungry again, thinking of the spread that day. It was also timely that there was a 15% for Citibank card holders, so I got to save a little. Hee =)
Was also on a 2-day HRM congress at Intercontinental Hotel on Tuesday and Wedneday, so that kinda piled up work. Nonetheless, speakers at the congress were really interesting and that the organisers kept feeding us like pigs. Hahha. Breakfast, Lunch, Tea.
Also went shopping at Skinfood's new outlet at Bugis since the Congress at Intercontinental was within Parco Bugis itself. By the way, the outlet at Marina has closed, just in case you decide to make your way down.
Bought some stuff to add to my collection, shall post some photos of the entire range. Some were bought a while back. I'm trying to accumulate the $250 to get their VIP card. Hehe.
