SICK.SICK.SICK!
Saturday, December 27 5:16 PM
I'm very very sick and it feels terrible. AND IT'S A SATURDAY!
First, I got an innocent cough but that was not serious enough for me to take attention since it was not the 'itchy' cough yet. Then the flu came in, which was why I left office shortly after reaching and decided to work from home.
After I got home, the fever decided to pay a visit. It hasn't left since.
Because of the fever, I feel weak without any once of strength and it feels like I may faint anytime.
Last night was sleepless to say the least. I felt kinda bad cos Al shares a room with me and I probably subjected him to 12 hours of air-con-less night which to me felt like the freezing artic.
Yes, it is extremely cold even when I don on 2 layers of shirt, long pajamas pants and a jacket, tucked into my comforter.
To add on, I have a throbbing headache and I wanna puke. BUT I'm not gonna let it happen, I hate the after taste of vomit.
Went to see Dr Tan today and he says it's case of normal flu and fever and that it will subside. I know it will subside, what I want to know is WHEN! I'm supposed to go back and see Dr Tan again if it doesn't subside by Tuesday.
Goodness, I don't know how I am going to take it IF (touch wood) it really lasts till Tuesday.
I foresee another sleepless night tonight and it sucks cos I'm so tired. For info, I woke up at 2am and 6 am last night to finally decide that I don't want to go back to bed.
But in a way although it sucks to say this, this illness came at a slightly better time. If it came last week when my folks were away and I was KL-bound, I would have hated myself.
If it came right after we came back, I probably have to miss the X'mas dinner at GMR.
Nonethelsss, oh god, please help me. I can totally feel the heat on my upper lip..
Merry X'mas!

Our new car has finally arrived! =) Collected it yesterday and we still can't get enough of it. Hahah. Took some photos of the new ride when we were at T3 for dinner.

Work was only half day today so time passed in a flash since nobody was really working. There were parties, celebrations, makan sessions, games and present exchanges going around. I received so many presents, thanks you guys! Some even came without names so I don't really know exactly who gave what.
Went Raffles City after knocking off at 1pm, headed to That CD Shop and bought myself a Olivia Ong CD.
Her songs are really nice and soothing! I was looking for another CD when I heard it playing on the speaker so I turned around and asked the sales assistant about it and she passed me the 'Best of Olivia' CD which I paid for immediately.
After That CD Shop, I headed to MPH. This time, I managed to finally get myself a copy of Twilight! In the abstract cover.
I was looking for the abstract cover cos it seems every TIMES bookstore only sell the version with the movie poster which I'm not exactly keen in.
Managed to get the book with the cover I want, with a 20% discount no less. Happy! I shall start on my book tomorrow!
Reached home, bathed, changed and got ready for the 2nd half of the day.
Dear came to pick me up close to 6.30pm and we drove down to Grand Mercure Hotel for dinner with his family. Also received a gift from his boss! If you ever get to read this - Thanks lots, Ronnie! =)
Traffic en route was crazy so we arrived slightly later than his folks but managed to locate a lot fast enough. Was very lucky!
Settled down soon and exchanged gifts (I hope they like what I got them!).
Uncle and Auntie were very thoughtful in their gift! Received a Campo Marzio from them. Sylvia got me a reindeer necklace. Extremely cute!
The dinner buffet spread was great, everyone loved the food. I enjoyed the turkey, fish and dessert best! Hee, sweet tooth. =)
Had quite a couple of funny topics as we went about dinner. The one about the cross-stitched clock steals the night! Hahaha, Sylvia is hilarious, I swear. I laughed so hard that I was practically tearing.
Also the story on the kacang puteh man is classic but this is a story for another day.
Soon it was close to 10pm and people started leaving and it was soon our turn too. As Dear had booked a movie (Twilight!) at 10.50pm, we started to make a move first.
Okay, on the movie.
To be honest, I didn't really like it and was in fact, slightly disappointed.
This is despite not having read the book yet. I don't know about you but I don't need a direct comparison with the book to realise that the movie isn't quite up to mark in cinematography. Oh wells, but Edward Cullen's boyish good looks make up for everything else.
We also bumped into my mum and dad outside the cinema. Talk about coincidence! =)
They went to catch Ip Man. Mum initially preferred Twilight but Dad wanted Ip Man so dear joked that I should watch Twilight with mum while he volunteered to catch Ip Man with my daddy. Haha!
Reached home around 2am? So tired now but my hair needs to dry after bathing. I guess it's more or less done now.
I shall sleep till late tomorrow. Got a sleep debt to pay. Haha
On this note, I would like to wish everyone a MERRY X'MAS and FANTABULOUS 2009 ahead!
Love lots,
Gina
KL (20 December 2008)
Tuesday, December 23 10:59 AM
I'm back from my short holiday! Feelin' totally recharged and a little unwilling to let the normalcy resume, haha, isn't it always the case for holidays.
Anyway, I flew via Tiger on Saturday morning at 6am. The flight was super early! I only slept at 11.30pm the night below and woke up at 3am to bathe, get ready and to reach airport by 5am.
Dear's daddy sent us to the airport early that morning. Thanks uncle!
Taken from my seat inflight
Trying hard not to fall asleep but I still dozed off during the 45 minute flight to KL. Haha. Anyway, I prefer Tiger to Airasia. Their flights are very new and big!
After an hour plus, we finally got to our hotel right in the heart of KL. We've never stayed at ParkRoyal before but I really really really like this hotel!

Number 1 - The location is fantastic! It is directly opposite Times Square and Sungei Wang and is adjacent to Lot 10 Shopping Mall with Pavilion just further up!
No more alleys where you are practically side by side with oncoming motorcycles!
Number 2 - The room is soooo pretty! It's totally open concept and has your own walk-in dressing area! Bathing and toilet facilities are totally separate! It's a very boutique-ish hotel!
Number 3 - Service is fantastic!
On the 1st night, we had registered ourselves for the shuttle service to go KLCC (the fact that they have a shuttle service is already a thumbs up!), but when we went down the next morning, somehow the shuttle service was oversubscribed and they were not able to accomodate us.
As we were left out, I thought we probably had to wait for the next shuttle service which is in like an hour or so. Bah!
But no! They chartered a cab for us and even paid for us to go KLCC. This is great service I'd never thought I'd experience in KL. Good job!
Number 4 - They provide efficient in-stay service and after-sales service. When we ran out of bathgels, they came up very quickly. Other hotels we went to took their own sweet time to get to us which was quite frustrating.
Also, our flight home on the last day was at 10.10pm in the night. As the check-out time is 12 noon, we had requested for them to extend the check-out time for us till 3 pm.
Most hotels would probably charge you, but not them. They allowed us to extend till 3 pm and that's not all. They offered to hold our luggage after we checked-out so that we could continue to shop until evening without the hassle of lugging the bags around.
Number 5 - Room Service! Their club sandwich was delicious!!! It was on the hotel because we stayed for more than 2 nights. Can you beat that? We ordered the food close to midnight and they did not take more than 20 mins to deliver our food to us.
With that, we have booked Park Royal for our next KL trip too! Hahah! Good hotels deserve loyal patronage!
Ok, some photos of the hotel for your viewing!

The basin is not inside the toilet nor the shower stall. It is right beside the bed. Very cute!
The 2 frosted glass doors are the toilet and bath room.

The shower stall, although nothing interesting. Haha

The walk-in dressing room with the full length mirror which I absolutely adore.

The view right outside our room. That's Time Square.

And this is Sungei Wang.

Hungry?

US! :)
I have no idea what sculpture is that
But at least my idea of taking with the sculpture beats this, dear made me take a photo with the escalator.... >.<"
This HUGGGGGE Christmas tree is at KLCC.

And this is at Mid-Valley. Did not take much photos after that though.
It was just shopping, shopping, shopping!
Times Square - Etude House!
And of course, I bought myself some Skin Food!
The loot from SF on the first day.
They gave me 2 free Skin Food teddies, but I am not a teddy-person, so I gave one to the girl behind me in the queue who wanted to buy it because she did not hit the minimum amount, but the bear wasn't for sale.
We also managed to catch Jim Carrey's Yes Man and Keanu Reeves' The Day The Earth Stood Still at Pavilion on 2 separate days.
Wanted to catch Twilight but it's always out of seats
Had thought of getting the book there too, but guess what? It was all sold out and the sales assistant at Times offered to place me on the waiting list. I was number 349.
Of course, I said, no thanks!
My Christmas Present from Dear!!
He brought me to the Coach flagship outlet and asked me to choose something! I wanted so many things haha, especially the latest Soho collection!!
Of course I wasn't greedy, I asked for a wallet because my Braun Buffel wallet's getting a little old.
In return, I brought him to Ralph Lauren and got him a polo tee!
Yay, it's a happy Christmas! =)

Some other stuff that I managed to buy...
An adidas originals polo.

Etude House products, not much cos I haven't heard my reviews except the shop is all pink!
Only bought 2 blushers, they're very cute!
And all the other clothes..
Not forgetting my folks' Christmas gifts!
They arrived 6 hours after me and they are all still sleeping at this hour! Haha. Jet-Lag!
I'm telecommuting from home today, will probably post their Capetown photos if I'm free later! Ta!

The Tenth Circle

Oh man!
They screened Jodi Picoult's 'The Tenth Circle' in USA as a TV show.
How cool is that, anyway we can get it here in Singapore??
I wanna watch!
Weird Baby Names - HAHA
Sunday, December 14 10:25 PM
I came across this article which made me laugh so loud that I had to re-post in on my blog for everyone's entertainment. This is funny, especially in the age where celebs give their kids really awesomely strange names like Mowgli, Apple and Winter. Extract from TNP's article " Weird NZ, Aussie Names - Hi, my kid's name is Number 16 Bus Shelter' dated 14 December 2008."
Navaeh and Narnia are okay.
But not Gummy Bear, Coca Cola and King John I.
The Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages has seen it all when it comes to parents picking weird names for their newborns.
.. However in Queensland, there are certain regulations governing what the name can be. According to the rules, the name cannot:
- Be an official title or rank
- Be a trademark
- Include symbols without phonetic significance
... Not one, but 17 babies were named Navaeh - heaven spelt backwards.
And three mothers chose Hermione for their daughters inspired by the lead female character in the popular Harry Potter book.
... Another mum named her baby Kyson because her name is Kylie and he was the son of Kylie.
Similarly in New Zealand, Family Court Judge Rob Murfitt also expressed dismay at parents giving their children bizarre names.
Officials had to say no to Sex Fruit, Twisty Poi, Stallion and a Fish and a Chips - for twins.
But they gave the green light to Number 16 Bus Shelter, Midnight Chardonnay and Violence.
HAHAHAHAA. I'm so very amused by Fish and Chips! Really! What are they thinking? Let's not even get started on Number 16 Bus Shelter, shall we? Trust me, I did a Google on that name and it gave me a lot of hits including one that reported a girl's name - 'Talula Does the Hula' that blocked by a judge.HAHAHA.
Ally, Jaivyn is a nice name. Please keep it up for your second son! Let me know within one week of your expected labour date k? Take care! =)
P/s I'm SO tempted to put a halt on my Jodi Picoult for now and grab a copy of Twilight! The entire series is on 20% discount at Times! Even the Times membership doesn't give that discount on any other day.
HOW?
14 December 2008
4:15 PM
Hehe, haven't blogged for a while this week. It's been a busy week, hasn't it? Anyway, before you know it, the weekend is about to be OVER.
But this is one weeekend I can't wait for it to get over soon, cos...... I'm flying next week! =) Got a little time to pack during the next few days so it's not that bad. Dear still owes me the itinerary for our trip!
My folks are also flying around the same time and they too all doing their own packing. Quite a lot for them to pack compared to me. Mum showed me their itinerary in Cape Town and it looks really fun! Everyone's flying this month, it's indeed the traveller's season in December.
Anyway, I finally finished the whole series of Moonlight Resonance (Ka Ho Yuet Yuen).
It's damn nice, damn nice! Haha, I think I've been too engrossed in the drama, sometimes I speak in stuttering Cantonese to Robin and being the full fledged Cantonese that he is, he never fails to pick on my pronunciation. Haha
I seldom find the patience to sit through hours of drama on DVD but this show is different cos I like the entire cast and how those evil people make me wanna slap them. Hahaha, I guess that means that they are indeed very seasoned actors.
Anyway, the show ended on a high note and everyone ended up like how it should. =)
Didn't go for D&D last Friday afterall cos I wasn't feeling too well (Read: periodic woes) but from the photos on Pauline's facebook, it seemed to have gone pretty well.
Shall check with the rest on the highlights of that night when I return tomorrow. Hehe. Wonder who got the Alice Award? The Tweedledee and Tweedledum Award? And the Cheshire Cat Award?
So.... Christmas will be here in another 10 days, everyone done your Christmas shopping yet? Oh ya, Ralph Lauren is having a 20% on all regular retail so if you been wanting something from RL, so grab it soon. We managed to get 2 tops yesterday.
Also around the corner is Chinese New Year. Somehow, CNY's sounds like it's gonna be quite a boring holiday which makes it a good opportunity to travel.. which I am! Heehee
Basically, my holidays all the way up to April 09 have all been booked so I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of 2009.
Nothing much to do for the rest of the day.
I shall grab my book and read on the couch until I snooze. The weather these days is fantastic, the after-rain breeze makes it very easy to sleep.
Ta!
Watch Surprise
Monday, December 8 12:23 AM
Once again, Dear has surprised me out of the blue!
I shan't bore you with the details but this boy has been very cheeky with his string of surprises of late!
:)
Latio!
Sunday, December 7 1:32 PM
Dear gave me a hugggggge surprise yesterday! Haha, thinking back now still makes me laugh. It started with my love for sedans, whereas Dear on the other hand, loves hatchbacks.
(All of his 5 cars are hatches).Anyway, he's been contemplating a change of car for a while now, we had gone to check out several models which he had a mind on during the first half of the year.. Suzuki Swift, SX 4, Honda Fit, Hyundai Avante (mostly hatchbacks if you can tell) but we didn't exactly settle for any.I am not a fan of the fast and furious, and I always have a soft spot for simple sedans especially Nissan Latio cos it is really simple and classy yet not understated in my opinion.Recently, we started a discussion on how guys his age should drive sedans cos it somehow makes them look more mature since the make of the car tend to reflect the maturity of the driver. Let's just say, you won't see a 22 year old behind a Camry. HahahAnyway, this kinda reignited his interest in car-viewing and so we started to look out for sedans and knowing how much I liked the Nissan Latio, we decided to head down to Tan Chong yesterday to take a look.Whee, the moment we got there, I saw the new face-lifted Nissan March. In PINK! Very nice! It's cuter than Dear's current one, hahaha but asking him to get the same car in different colour(especially PINK) is tantamount to asking him to murder me. HahaI would get it, IF COE drops to $2 again. -dreams-As we walked in further, we spotted the Latio and as usual we went in to survey the seats and interior as the sales people came to show us the brouchure. Nice dashboard and very spacious for a 1.5L. Niceeeee! It just made me like the Latio even more...!Dear then started to take out his IC and I knew he was itching for a test drive when he did so (cos you need to swop with them for the keys).. BUT instead he took out a receipt from his wallet while we were still inside the car and gave it to me. As usual, I thought he wanted me to dispose of it until I opened it and got the shock of my life! It was a receipt from Tan Chong Motors for quite a bit of amount. Then, it dawned on me. OHMYGOD, HE BOUGHT THE CAR!! (The whole IC thing was just a decoy!)Of course, I couldn't believe it initially. He's been wanting to get the other sporty cars, why would he settle for a sedan which he disagrees in the first place? He then started to tell me that the Latio does grow on him the more he see it too (must be my influence, haha) and now whenever he sees a Fit or a Swift which he once sought after, he thinks they look childish. Hahah. So fickle right? He even told me his initial plan was to surprise me only after he has collected the car but he couldn't contain it any further so had to bring me to take a look, but his plan was something along the lines of :
"Wah, dear.. take a look at this Nissan Latio. Just like the one you always ask me to buy. Hmmm, I wonder if we can take a look inside. Beep-beep! -car unlocks- and Gina is shell-shocked. Haha, that would have really shocked me!
Anyway, it's a pleasant surprise and I can't wait to collect the car with him together after Christmas!
It's a different Sunday today cos we don't have to sleep early in anticipation of work tomorrow.
So head out and enjoy! I'm heading down town!
Seeya!
Jodi Picoult
Friday, December 5 9:38 PM
I am SO glad I held back on that off-shoulder I saw the other day because.....
There was a 20% for OCBC Credit Card today! Wheeee!
Of course I jumped at the immediate cost savings of $10 and managed to get the top nonetheless. =)
Happpy. In other news, I bought new books yesterday! I had such a difficult time deciding between Jodi Picoult's Nineteen Minutes or TWILIGHT! Guess what I bought in the end...

Yup, I got Jodi Picoult eventually, but nope, not 19 Minutes because I chanced upon this JP bundle which I think was too good a deal to give a miss.
3 books in one bundle. The normal price of a paper back Jodi Picoult is typically around $17 but this bundle only set me back at $29.95. How cheap is that??
That makes one book even less than 10 bucks.
Haha, Twilight will just have to wait..! I'm starting with The Tenth Circle now. That'll keep me occupied for the long weekend ahead. Okay, either that or Moonlight Resonance.
I'm really tired, need to go bathe, watch tv and retire for the night. Saturday promises lots of fun ahead.
Just one last thing. I reflected on the death of Singaporean Lo Hwei Yen as the news covered her funeral for most of this week and then it dawned on me.
If there is one lesson we could learn from her misfortune, it would be that we should always cherish our loved ones when they are around.
Terrorism is one battle, we can never win. Terrorists are robbers who strike at any time, they rob people of happiness, loved ones and lives because they do not know how it feels like to be loved.
This is something we need to accept as we will not be able to anticipate or change their insane rationale for rampages.
What we can do, however, is to live everyday like it is going to be your last and to make sure every moment spent with your loved ones count towards good memories.
Quarelled with a friend recently? Send a sms to say sorry.
Disagreed with your colleagues at work? Try to see from his / her perspective and learn to understand.
Picked a fight with your boyfriend? Drop him a call to let him know that you still care.
Haven't seen your family for the past week? Take this extended weekend with a public holiday for a family dinner or outing.
I believe every bit counts. With that, I leave you for the night.
Have a good weekend ahead! =)
When a girl needs to shop
Wednesday, December 3 10:48 PM
I shall name this entry - When a girl needs to shop...
I haven't shopped for a really long time cos was busy with NDIC and all other matters. Now that we have officially inched into the month of Christmas (and bingeing), I have decided to give myself a good shopping spree treat (before I turn too fat)!
Warning: You may get tempted to shop too, so if you're saving money in light of the sucky economy, please click the 'X' on top of this page.. Haha
Okay, here we go. First piece!
I lurvvvve this piece from F21. The cutting is so nice, the material is very comfy.
AND it was the last piece. How could I not get it? Heehee.
Please tell me I don't look like a bulb in this.
Isn't this piece a doll too? I like it quite a lot, but thing is, I can't think of 5 places where I can wear this to.
Definitely not to work. Hmmm, maybe D&D?
Our theme this year is Alice in Wonderland. Does this even come close??

Oh, and this off-shoulder!
I like how it drapes on my shoulder but its' kinda ex for a top like this. 50 buckaroos.
What do you think? Should I go back and get it?
I think the colour makes me even fairer than I already am. Haha

You can tell, I really adore this top. Should I??

Another dress from F21. Very yuletide-ish ya? Must be the tartan prints.
You cant exactly tell from this photo but the back is very sexay.. haha, it is criss-crossed tied up with ribbon.
And because of all I spent at F21, I got a $10 voucher. Haha, will go back to utilise it before it expires in 2 weeks.

Since I've posted so many photos of me in new clothes, one more won't hurt right? Haha, however this is in old clothes.
Right before I head off for work last Friday as you can tell from the casual getup.

Alrighty now, I'm gonna catch some 40 winks.
Nights all!
One last thing! Should I get the off-shoulder top??
